Passenger Safety at Risk: Advocates Slam Mismanagement at Katni Railway Station

Katni, June 6, 2025 —

In a move to address growing concerns over passenger safety and mismanagement at the Katni Railway Station, the Katni New Advocates Association submitted a formal memorandum to the station master today.

The memorandum highlighted several alarming issues, including the open sale of food items, intoxicants, and flammable materials by unauthorized vendors within the station premises and on trains. Such activities directly violate Sections 144 and 175 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989.

The advocates also pointed out repeated instances where ticket examiners forcibly deboarded students, lawyers, and general passengers at random stations. These actions pose serious threats to passengers’ safety and reflect gross negligence on the part of the railway administration.

The New Advocates Association has issued a stern warning, stating that if the raised concerns are not addressed within 90 days, they will file a writ petition against the railway administration in court.

The memorandum was handed over in the presence of advocate Akshay Bajaj, Sumit Yadav, Anurag Gupta, and Mangaljit Singh Bhatti. All advocates present expressed their full support for the memorandum and demanded urgent action.
